Located in Downtown Amarillo, Hodgetown Baseball Field was opened in 2019. It is the home of the Amarillo Sod Poodles, a minor league baseball team. They are currently a farm team for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The baseball field has a great family-friendly atmosphere for everyone!
In their first season in Amarillo, the Sod Poodles came from behind and won the Texas League championship! Hodgetown Field also hosts movie nights and outdoor concerts. Come root for the Soddies at Hodgetown Field!
Palo Duro Canyon is the second-largest canyon in the U.S. In 1934, Texas turned the canyon into a state park. Now visitors can enjoy the beautiful view with the Texas sky. For drivers, Palo Duro Canyon State Park has 16 scenic miles of paved road.
The state park has 50 miles of trails with some specifically for bicycles and horseback riding. Visit their website for more details. Since the canyon can become very hot during summer middays, it is wise to avoid the long trails during those times. Remember to brin water! Palo Duro Canyon State Park is an amazing place to exercise and marvel in nature.
Founded in 1951, the amusement park has grown to 30 rides currently. Wonderland Amusement Park in Amarillo has a mix of new and nostalgic rides including the Texas Tornado. They have 5 water rides if you need to cool off.
If you want to keep your feet firmly on the ground, you can try their miniature golf. The park features a rotating group of delicious food trucks. They family-run amusement park has over 200,000 visitors each year. Wonderland Amusement Park is located in Thompson Memorial Park.
